My name is Lainey and I was deployed for a year and a half tour with my unit, HHC 256 Bde, to Iraq from 2004-2005.  During that time,  I posted pictures to this website and found it to be a great way to show my life to family and friends.  I am 26 years old.  In civilian life I work at Total Safety.  The brigade's mission in Iraq was very successful and troops overseas continue to take strides in making this country a better place for people to live.  I am very proud to have served my country in such an honorable way.  The media often portrays Iraq as being so horrible and that couldn't be farther from the truth.  Even the little things we did every day made such a big difference.  Soldiers are not robots, they are people too.  They have feelings and emotions.  They, too, are entitled to a little bit of fun every now and then.  This website was started to show how soliders made the best of their time through the deployment process.  If you came to this site for some negativity, you stopped by the wrong place.  Hope you enjoy my site, I have recently updated it to be more uniformed and easier to navigate.  Please feel free to sign my guestbook.  If you would like to contact me, my e-mail address is lainey.simon@gmail.com

Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but how we react to what happens; not by what life brings to us, but the attitude that we bring to life.  A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes.  It is a catalyst...a spark that creates extraordinary results.

The answer is Yes!  Yes, you may use any of the photos that you want from my website.  You also have permission to link my site!   I do ask that they not be used to portray anything negative.  Help me spread the positive word around about the troops!  Thanks!
